# How to pump your brain?

Switchability and quick thinking

To train such a property of attention as switching, there are cool exercises with numbers. These exercises were brought to this world by Plato in some 400-300 centuries BC, then Pythagoras also used these exercises at school

Our brains do not switch naturally, and do not cope well with multitasking. But to some extent, we can pump this switchability and ingenuity. And then we switch also in the session between some similar hands, because our brain will be able to keep these objects in our focus of attention.

What is this exercise?

We take a sequence of numbers - one ascending and one descending. Ascending - from 2 to 100 and descending from 100 to 2, for example. And we are simultaneously moving up in step two and down in step two. That is, up in step two, we get the following sequence - 2, 4, 6, 8 ... 96, 98, 100. Down in step two, we get the sequence - 100, 98, 96 ... 6, 4, 2.

How do we move through these sequences: first we move up 2 + 2 = 4, then we count the sequence down 100 - 2 = 98, then 4 + 2, = 6, then 98 - 2 = 96. We keep these numbers in our heads all the time and we work from them.

And when it becomes easy, then we move on to the sequence up in step three, down in step three, then up in step four, down in step four. And for the advanced ones, you can then do two sequences up, step two and step three, and at the same time two sequences down, also step two and step three. This is where your brain starts to explode. The exercise is very useful and really helps to switch between tasks of the same type.

This exercise can be done anywhere when you have a minute. If done as a warm-up for a poker session, combined with meditation practice, it will be great to get our minds in working order.
